Laser hair reduction is a procedure that uses light energy to reduce unwanted hair growth over time.

How it works

The laser targets pigment in the hair follicle. Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions spaced weeks apart are usually needed to treat follicles at the right stage.

Who it may suit

  • People with unwanted facial or body hair
  • Those with ingrown hairs from shaving or waxing
  • People with hormonal conditions such as PCOD, after medical assessment

Questions to ask at consultation

  • Is my skin and hair type suitable?
  • How many sessions might I need?
  • What aftercare is required?
  • What side effects are possible?

Realistic expectations

Laser hair reduction aims to reduce, not necessarily eliminate, hair. Results vary from person to person, and maintenance sessions may be advised.
